Molly Mansfield

Hi, I’m Molly!

Prior to pursuing my MGIST, my studies focused on global and environmental health as well as international studies, with a focus on the Middle East. By taking an interdisciplinary approach to my work, I’ve gained a strong understanding of how both local and global systems interact with one another, and how our physical location amidst them plays a crucial role in not only our health, but in all areas from environmental conservation to business. I’ve found GIS to be a powerful tool in aiding decision making, environmental monitoring, documenting historical occurrences, and forecasting future impacts.

I hope to contribute the GIS expertise I’ve gained through the MGIST program to organizations whose missions will benefit from stronger spatial infrastructure and understanding.

While I enjoy traveling as much as I can, I spend most of my time in my second home of beautiful Durham, North Carolina. In my spare time, you can find me working at my neighborhood restaurant, browsing the thrift store, or working on an art project.
